BIPOC Aspiring Midwives 2021 Scholarships

In Winter 2021 we will provide $6,000 in scholarships ( 12 x $500 ) to support California Black, Indigenous, and People of Color aspiring midwives on their individual journey to a midwifery education.

Application opens 11/1/2021 * Application closes 12/1/2021 * Recipients will be notified 12/8/2020

The path to a midwifery education is not a linear one for many of us & it can take months to years before we are ready to apply to a midwifery education program of choice.

Scholarship Criteria

BIPOC Aspiring Midwives scholarships in Winter 2021 have been made possible by the Tara Health Foundation. Recipients must be California residents who identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or a People of Color & who are aspiring midwives on their individual journey to a midwifery education. A person can apply for a scholarship if they met the established criteria. The amount of the scholarship is $500 to be awarded 12/2021 and is not renewable.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • California Resident

  • Identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color

  • Demonstrates a commitment to pursuing an education in midwifery

  • Clear timeline leading up to when when they plan to apply to a midwifery education of choice (with a goal of becoming a Nurse Midwife or Licensed Midwife)

  • Describe where on their journey to midwifery school they are currently & how these funds will be supportive
